The first football ground I ever visited was in the North East of Scotland. “Gayfield Park” home to the mighty Arbroath FC. Arbroath were the local team where I lived and, over the years I lived in Scotland, I grew to really love the “Red Lichties”. Gayfield on first glance is an old-fashioned ground with one stand of around 1000 seats and the rest all “safe standing” terraces.
It was always going to happen wasn’t it? New season, new manager, same result. Hull is a place where Blues just don’t win and Saturday was no different. Blues were defeated 2-0 at the KCOM Stadium thanks to a double from Jarrod Bowen. It wasn’t a particularly great performance from Garry Monk’s men in a game the home side dominated.
How many times have “what could’ve been” and “Birmingham City” been referred to in the same sentence? Well yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers at home was a classic example. Blues, a goal up and cruising inside the first half an hour, took their foot off the gas entirely and had to rely on Adams bailing them out with a late equaliser. A point is obviously better than coming away with nothing but it could and really should’ve been all three.
Wow. Just wow. In typical Blues fashion we somehow managed to race into a 4-0 lead before half time and come away from the game thankful to our goalkeeper for making sure that we did actually win that game. Saturday's unbelievable 4-3 win at QPR really had it all. 7 goals, a Che Adams hat trick and a last minute penalty save from Lee Camp.
What a performance we witnessed yesterday from Blues in the 2-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest. To a man every single player put in a fantastic performance and we deservedly came away with all 3 points. It really is testament to Garry Monk and his coaching staff, as well as the players, that aside from hitting the post once, Camp and his defence never really looked threatened by Forest during the game. It was a really perfect performance.
