Both sets of fans came away from this game scratching their heads wondering how it ended 0-0. An absolutely brilliant performance from Blues was just missing a goal to top it off and give them their first win of the season.
I don’t think there will be a goalkeeper in the World that will have an easier debut than that, didn’t have a save to make.
Another very impressive performance from Maxime Colin. He’s consistently a good performer for Blues and kept that up yesterday. Made some good interceptions at the back and looked to progress down the line and support going forward wherever possible.
Very little to do defensively, and what he did have to do he dealt with well. Looked a threat going forward from set pieces.
Very similar to Michael Morrison. Defensively there wasn’t too much for either of them to be doing but when on the ball they kept it moving forward and supporting wherever possible.
A fantastic performance from the Dane. Looked strong, athletic, and very good on the ball. He dealt with a tricky winger in Asoro, and came out on top. Put in some great challenges.
Back to the Jota we’ve all be wanting to see for some time! Constantly ran at his defender, causing the Swansea back line all sorts of problems. Hopefully he can now keep that level of performance going on a more consistent basis.
Looked like a man possessed in the first half. First to every loose ball, and constantly harried the Swansea midfield. When he is in that mood there’s no one in the Championship better at playing that role than Maikel Kieftenbeld. His levels of energy are ridiculous, he doesn’t stop!
Mixed reception for Gary Gardner in the pre match announcements following his loan move from our smaller neighbours across the City, but he’s certainly changed those views after that performance. Looked composed on the ball, used it well, and brought others into play wherever possible. Could be a useful addition to this Blues side.
Another fantastic performance from Blues’ player of the season last year. Every time he gets the ball now he has the confidence to take it on and run at defenders which is something he’s not had previously. Put in one lovely ball in the 89th minute which Jutkiewicz couldn’t quite convert. Unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions too.
Yes, he missed some clear cut chances, But Jutkiewicz brings so much to Blues’ overall game. His hold up play is fantastic, he’s always looking to bring others into the game, and he causes opposition defences constant problems. The only thing missing from his performance yesterday was a goal.
Just like Gary Gardner, it was a great home debut from Omar Bogle. Looks to offer Blues something difference in attack, he has height and also good pace and very tricky feet. If he can perform like that every week then he’s going to become a firm fans favourite at St Andrews.
