We Are Birmingham believe that Blues are in advanced talks with midfielder Dan Crowley. The Coventry-born midfielder is currently based in the Netherlands, playing for Willem II, and has made 50 appearances across two seasons for the Eredivisie outfit.
A product of the V*lla academy, Crowley was involved in Villa Under-19’s NextGen Series campaign victory in 2012/13, at the age of sixteen. The youngster’s performances attracted the attention of Arsenal, prompting the North London side to sign him in the summer of 2013.
Whilst at the Gunners, Crowley failed to make a league appearance, spending time on loan at Barnsley, Oxford United and Go Ahead Eagles, his first stint in the Eredivisie. Despite spending half of his first season at the Tricolores on loan at SC Cambuur, the 21-year-old eventually gained a first-team spot in the 2018/19 campaign, scoring five and assisting seven goals.
Crowley has featured as Willem II’s most advanced midfielder and is likely to provide a similar creative spark to the recently departed Jota. Crowley currently has one year remaining on his contract, with his current deal running until 2020.
WAB believe there are also two more potential deals in the works and we will endeavour to keep you as up to date as possible on these developments.
