Harry Redknapp has started his first summer as permanent Blues manager signing of former Fulham, Huddersfield town and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper David Stockdale.

The signing is a real show of intent from Blues who are looking to get back into the Premier League after 6 years in the second tier of English football. They are also looking to put some much publicised troubles over recent years behind them.

Stockdale will officially start his 3 year contract at Blues on 1st July when his current deal at Brighton ends and will join up with Thomas Kusczazck, who recently signed a new contract, and Adam Legzdins, who also remains at St Andrews after Blues took out the 1 year option in his contract.

Stockdale, who made 45 appearance’s last season conceding just 40 goals, was a fans’ favourite at the AMEX. Most Brighton fans seemed quite shocked that, despite being offered a new contract by former Blues boss Chris Hughton, he chose to leave newly promoted club and join a club who had a torrid second half of the season culminating in survival from relegation by just 2 points.

Several fans seem to believe he has joined purely for money, but the lure of Harry Redknapp and a 1st team place is more likely to be the reason. He also told the club’s Youtube channel that Harry told him to watch a video of the fans reaction to winning survival and after seeing the passion the fans have he wanted to join and help get the club back into the big time.

We Are Birmingham ran a poll on our Twitter page to see who you think will be first choice for the new season, with 86% of people who voted suggesting that it will be the new man between the sticks come the opening day.
