This time it really is ‘Adios Pep’

After a winless streak since the restart, Pep Clotet has this evening left his role as Birmingham City head coach tonight. This comes after a 3-1 defeat at home to Swansea, the fourth home game in a row that Blues had conceded three goals.

The Spaniard had already announced that he was leaving at the end of the 2019/20 season, however with just 2 points from 5 games and teams below winning games, fans have started to look over their shoulder at the relegation zone.

A club statement read:

Pep Clotet has this evening left his position as Head Coach.

He was due to step down at the season’s end but it was mutually agreed that he should relinquish the role immediately.

The board would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Pep for his efforts during the past two years.

We will be making no further comment at this time.

Who takes over is yet to be announced, Robbie Fowler is the latest bookies’ favourite to take over at the end of the season, however with just four games remaining of the season, will someone from inside the club take on the role to try and secure safety?
